WRITERPALOOZA Update: Buy a chance to advance your career!
By Debra Mullins, Ways & Means Director

At the May meeting, we gave away several wonderful gift baskets of fabulous books donated by award-winning and bestselling authors.  In  June, Writerpalooza continues with some of our most valuable prizes ever—items that can help advance a writer’s career.  We have critiques from agents Lucienne Diver of the Knight Agency, Emily Sylvan Kim of the Prospect Agency, and Lois Winston of the Ashley Grayson Literary Agency.  We have a number of critiques from multi-published and award-winning authors.  We have online classes, one of which is valued at $175!
Tickets will continue to be on sale at the June meeting, and the winners of the remaining prizes will be drawn at that meeting.  Ticket prices are $1 per ticket, or you can take advantage of our bargain deals: ten tickets for $5, twenty tickets for $10 or fifty tickets for $20.  You can put in as many tickets you want for as many of the prizes that you want.  The more tickets you enter, the better your chances of winning.  Winners need not be present to win.  Let Writerpalooza take you to that next step in your career!

Critiques/reads by Literary Agents
Lucienne Diver of the Knight Agency.  In early May of this year, Lucienne Diver joined The Knight Agency after fifteen years at Spectrum Literary Agency, where she specialized in fantasy, science fiction, romance, mystery and suspense.  Her clients include Marjorie M. Liu and Susan Krinard.  Lucienne has offered to read a synopsis and first 20 pages within a month of receipt.  www.knightagency.net

Emily Sylvan Kim of the Prospect Agency.  Emily was with prestigious Writer’s House (home of such luminaries as Nora Roberts and Linda Howard) for five years before branching out into her own agency.  She represents many genres in adult and young adult fiction, including three-time RITA nominee Joanne Rock.  Emily will critique the synopsis and first 30 pages of the winner’s work.  www.prospectagency.com

Lois Winston – Lois Winston is a published author of novel length fiction and non-fiction, as well as an agent with the Ashley Grayson Literary Agency.  She began her association with the agency as a client.  Two and a half years ago she was invited to join the agency as an associate.  The Ashley Grayson Literary Agency was established in 1976 and consists of four agents who handle both literary and commercial fiction, children's fiction, and some non-fiction.  Recently the agency temporarily closed its doors to submissions by previously unpublished writers, so a read by Lois Winston is a great opportunity!  Lois has agreed to critique 25 pages, plus a synopsis of 5-7 pages. www.loiswinston.com
