2010 CONTEST FOR PUBLISHED AUTHORS
This award will showcase the shining excellence of published authors in novel-length romantic fiction.
 “Top Pick” winner chosen by an Industry Book Buyer.
Categories for the contest are:
Series Short Contemporary       
Series Long Contemporary
Single Title Romance (Over 70,000 Words)
Mainstream with romantic elements   
Historical & Regency (Both Series and Single Title)
Romantic Suspense & Mystery with romantic elements (Over 70,000 Words)
Paranormal/Time Travel/Fantasy (Both Series and Single Title)
Young Adult
Inspirational
Preliminary round will be judged by Booksellers, Librarians and Romance Readers.  Highest score in each category will advance to the final round judged by Sue Grimshaw, romance book buyer for Borders Group, Inc.  
CONTEST ENTRY RULES

    • Entry forms (one per entry), fees and books must be received by January 9, 2010SPECIAL NOTICE:  DEADLINE HAS BEEN EXTENDED UNTIL JANUARY 15, 2010.  Entry fees are non-refundable. Entries, fees and books received after contest is officially closed will be returned.
    • The contest shall be open to all RWA members who are in good standing with RWA National. An author may enter as many books as he/she likes, but each book can only be entered in one category.
    • E‑books can be entered as long as the author has a signed standard royalties agreement and the manuscripts are submitted in ARC or galley form and spiral or perfect bound. Loose pages will be disqualified.
    • The Contest Committee reserves the right to add, drop, or combine categories, dependent upon the number of entries received. Finalists will be the top three entries in each category.  The highest score in each category will advance to the final round judged by book buyer.
    • The Contest Committee will disqualify any entry that does not fully meet with all the rules. The OCC Board of Directors will resolve any disputes which may arise, and their decision will be final.\
    • Books must have a 2009 copyright date, first printing date, and/or first North American release date.
    • Entry Fee is $30.00 per entry for OCC/RWA members; $40.00 for other RWA members. The fees are non‑refundable. Each additional entry must include a separate entry form. Entry fees may be paid by PayPal through the chapter website www.occrwa.org or a check or money order, made payable to OCC/RWA.
    • Entry fee/s or copy of PayPal receipt, official entry form/s and five (5) autographed copies of the entered title/s and a self-addressed stamped postcard must be sent to BOOK BUYERS BEST CONTEST, c/o Carol Hughes, Contest Coordinator, 5820 Hazeltine Avenue #10, Valley Glen, CA 91401. No books shall be returned.
    • Finalists will be announced at the April 10, 2010 OCC/RWA general meeting.  Winners will be announced and awards presented at the June 12, 2010 general meeting.  Sue Grimshaw, romance book buyer for Borders Group, Inc. will present the “Top Pick.”

    Entry fees may be paid by PayPal (see below) or send a check or money order, made payable to OCC/RWA, with your entry.  If paying by PayPal, be sure to include a copy of your receipt with the entry form. 

    OCC Member fee $30.00

    Non-OCC Member fee $40.00 but must be an RWA member
